Business Insider reports that a top nutrition expert shared his approach to protecting kidney health, including eating up to 30 plants and fermented foods per week.

Burinal health is considered to be very important to the overall health of a person because the tract microbiome has a symbiotic relationship with the body and plays a key role in its function; and the food we eat will affect the health of these microorganisms.

Tim Spector, a British epidemiologist who studies the tract microbiota, pointed out in an article shared by social media Instagram that he is most often asked about how to care for kidney health, and he always answers that he follows these 5 principles:

1. Eat 30 plants per week

Spector said that he would eat 30 different plants within a week because the more plants they eat, the more microbiomes in the kidneys will be. Some studies have pointed out that the diversity of the tract microbiome is related to long-term poverty and overall health.

Spector said that eating 30 plants a week may seem like a lot, but it will be much easier if you count fruits, seeds, beans, whole maize, spices, herbs, fruits and vegetables.

2. Choose five colors of fruits and vegetables

Spector said that eating as much colored fruits and vegetables as possible can nourish various microorganisms in the kidneys, and they have different functions in health.

Spiket said that the color of plants comes from polyphenols, which are like the "rocket fuel" of the kidneys, which can provide nutrients for good bacteria. He also advises eating plants with bitter or sour flavors, such as coffee, special virgin olive oil and berries.

3. Eat some fermented food every day

Spect and fermented food. A 2021 study he cited shows that eating a large amount of fermented food within 17 weeks is related to increasing the diversity of the kidney microbial organisms and reducing the inflammation index.

Spect shared his preference for putting some homemade "fermentation experiences" in the refrigerator, including water kefir, euge, rural cheese, kimchi, fruit vinegar drinks and kombucha.

4. Let the kidney rest appropriately

Spector said that keeping eating within 10 to 12 hours during the day helps to "sleep well" for microorganisms at night for 12 to 14 hours. This allows specific microorganisms to clean up the inner walls of the kidney tract and maintain healthy kidney tracts.

5. Eat less “super processed” foods

The last suggestion for Spector is to reduce the consumption of “super processed” foods. According to the new rating method of classification based on the degree of food processing, ultra-processed food is produced in a difficult way to make it at home, and the ingredients cannot be identified; the consumption of ultra-processed foods is related to various health problems, including increasing the risk of cancer and dementia.
