For the fifth time this year, the Netherlands has no Eredivisie players in the starting lineup, which is the longest time in all previous years combined.

In the European group stage of the World Cup preliminaries, the Netherlands faced Finland at home. In this game, the Netherlands once again put out a starting lineup without any Eredivisie players. This is the fifth time this year that the Oranje have made such an arrangement. Previously, the Dutch national team did not include Eredivisie players in the starting lineup only 5 times in all years.
