People who have raised dogs have more or less seen their dogs licking the urethra. The urethral opening is also a relatively easy place to get infected. Sometimes we will find white secretions appearing at the urethral opening. So what is the main reason? Let’s give a brief introduction.

1. Urinary tract infection

A dog's urinary tract infection may cause mucus or purulent secretions. Symptoms such as urgency, frequency, decreased urine output, painful urination, blood in the urine, and urethral orifice redness and swelling may also occur. When a dog's urinary tract infection is discovered or suspected, it is necessary to take the dog to the pet hospital for diagnosis and symptomatic anti-inflammation, sterilization, anti-infection and other treatments. If not treated in time, it may cause systemic infection and inflammatory reactions in dogs, leading to sepsis and other conditions.

2. Suffering from reproductive system diseases

If it is a female dog, white discharge will flow out of the vagina after pyometra, pelvic inflammatory disease and other obstetric diseases. If it is a male dog, white discharge will also appear after suffering from scrotal inflammation, orchitis and other reproductive tract diseases. It is recommended that the owner take the dog to the pet hospital for examination in time, and then provide symptomatic treatment after determining the specific cause.

3. Estrus

Dogs are in estrus, especially female dogs. During the estrus period, white or transparent secretions will flow from the vagina, and then the dog will also leak red liquid for a period of time. Therefore, when the dog is in heat, the owner can gently scrub the dog's vulva with clean warm water. The mat used by the dog should also be clean and soft in texture, which can prevent genital infections.
